Zune Phone - could it be real ?

Posted in: Concept |

zunephone.jpg
No it’s not real, just a concept.
It features a 3″ inch touchscreen and touch interface (different from Windows Mobile - which is kind of weird), a 5Mp digital camera and is just 10mm thick.
One thing is for sure Microsoft should start thinking at a phone - everybody does it.

Useful GPS

Posted in: GPS |

signce_studio_1.png

The guys from Signce Studio thought about a GPS that can really be useful and interacts with you in a easy way.
There are 2 different types of working for this GPS : target mode and cruising.

The target mode should get you from point A to point B as fast as possible.
The cruise mode should let you discover new POI (points of interests).

The software looks nice, but there are already on the market GPS devices with speed/easy/normal/economical modes.

Anyway - it looks nice.

Check more pictures after the break.

Posted in: China Mobile |

yaxingc1000_1.jpg
Look a Sony Txxx digital camera, a bird, a plane… No, is just another “chinese” mobile phone.

The phone is called YaXing C1000 and looks like a Sony CyberShot Txxx camera combined with a touchscreen mobile phone LG KS20 look.
Oh, these chinese people, they might be able to create the bet hardware and technology gadgets in the world but sure they lack creativity.

The phone features :
- 2,8″ inch touchscreen display
- 5Mp digital camera with Image Stabilization and Carl Zeiss Vario Tessar lens with 5x optical zoom
- mp3, video, TV player
- microSD
- bluetooth

yaxingc1000_2.jpg

Everything stuffed in a compact 96 x 57 x 19mm and light 132grams body.
This is not all, the cost for this gadget is $170.

The Sony Txxx camera series has mostly 3x optical zoom and if we should read the specs again, something’s not right. Oh well, I definitely would like to test this phone.

Emporio Armani phone aka Night Effect

Posted in: GSM News |

samsung_light_effect_1.jpg

No, it’s not a joke, is official.
Samsung and Armani has released the Night Effect mobile phone.

It features:
- a 2,2″ inch AMOLED QVGA display (AMOLED ? COOOOOOOL , love the iRiver Clix 2 AMOLED display, it really does the difference)
- a 3,2 Mp digital camera
- 120Mb internal memory with possibility to expand via microSD socket.
- HSDPA and GSM networks
- shiny glowing side

This phone is priced at 300 euros ( US $440 )

samsung_light_effect_2.jpg

Now let me describe why is $440.
First of all the AMOLED screen is really good, I wish more phones have this feature and the shiny glowing side thing with  Emporio Armani logo.

It really doesn’t do much more than this, is basically a Nokia 3220 (old) with a nice logo and improved features.

Breakthrough from Samsung - M8800 and i8510 / INNOV8

Posted in: GSM News, Rumors |

Samsung pushes the limits…
8Mp - OMG that’s like, a lot of MP inside just a camera phone.

samsung_innov8_1.jpg

If I were to look at an entry-level DSLR, Canon 1000D with 10Mp and Samsung i8510 with 8Mp , I would say that marketing does horrible things with on-paper specs.
Do you thing that this is it ??
Wait…
I’m just getting started…
Beside the unbelievable 8Mp digital camera, they also promise surround-sound cinematic for videos. Yes - that’s exactly what I was looking for, when I’m on the bus with all people, or on the train, or just in the car with my family. To disturb everybody with a phone that tries to be a 5.1 home cinema system :)

What’s next, oh yes, 3D gaming experience. Well, if you want to play games on the move - go for a PSP or DS. I had Nokia “amazing” NGage2 phone (N81) and it’s not an experience comparable with PSP by far.

samsung_innov8_2.jpg

Samsung i8510 / INNOV8 full specs, specifications, features whatever you call them:

Body
Size: 106.5 x 53.9 x 17.2 mm
Battery: 1200 mAh that should provide more than 3 days of stand-by in normal usage.

Connectivity
Network: HSDPA 7.2 Mbps (900/2100), EDGE / GPRS (850/900/1800/1900)
Bluetooth Stereo Headset (A2DP)
Bluetooth 2.0 / USB 2.0 / Wi-Fi

Display
Display: 2.8-inch VGA 16M TFT LCD (no touchscreen)

Hardware
No words on processor, might be an ARM11
Symbian OS V9.3, S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2
No words on RAM or ROM, or just internal memory

Digital Camera
Camera: 8 Megapixel CMOS with AF and Dual Power LED and Smart Reader, Image Stabilizer, Auto-Panorama Shot, Smile Shot, Blink Shot, Wide Dynamic Range (WDR), Face Detection
QVGA 120 fps Video recording, VGA 30 fps recording

Multimedia
Video Player (DivX / H.263 / H.264 / WMV / MP4)
FM Radio with RDS
Music Player (MP3/ AAC / AAC+ / eAAC+ / WMA / AMR/ RealAudio)
DNSe 2.0 from 2 Stereo Speakers - Surround sound emulation

Other stuff
A-GPS, Geo-tagging
Optical Mouse, Accelerometer
Embedded 3D Games : FIFA 2008, Asphalt
Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA)

More stuff
microSDHC (up to 16GB)

The phone looks promising from data specs, but like all products these days, only consumer reviews and professional reviews are helpful.

samsung_innov8_3.jpg

Samsung M8800 aka Bresson digital camera phone.

The M8800 concept (coz is still a concept) should be the main rival and response from Samsung for LG Viewty. It should feature a touchscreen, a 3,2″ display 16M colors QVGA, 15.8mm thick and maybe TouchWiz User Interface.

Don’t get me started on LG Viewty, I tested it’s camera capabilities and let’s say that 5Mp do not compare with “old school” Sony Ericsson K750 at overall image quality. Just another on-paper, marketing “victim” for consumers that buy the “image” from commercials without any knowledge about the product.

Battery
1150 mAh
Should get you a 320 hours stand-by time

Other stuff
Motion sensor, Digital Compass

CRITICS

It’s not as thin as you’d expect, and the screen is sort of baby with a QVGA mom and VGA father :) .
Yes, it’s touch-sensitive, take that Nokia, another one !! You don’t have 1…
The 1150 mAh battery might get you through the day but in our opinion, in normal use should keep the device going for two days. But if you are online on WiFi and browsing the battery might not even last one day.

You can customize everything from the home screen to the services you use the most. This is a nice feature of course but who has time to spend on the phone for a few hours adding buttons and removing things you don’t use.

The price for HTC G1 / HTC Dream will start from $179,99 with a two year contract from T-Mobile. This means that you will end up paying for it more than $1000. Don’t even get us started on iPhone.

The black and white colors look nice, we specially enjoy the white one :). But if they will start charging more money like other (APPLE) companies do then - F.them.

The Android OS should provide the user with an interesting browsing experience having the possibility to tab/simultanous browse. This is nice, but there are other phones that do this already.
Overall the OS should give you an iPhones’ish experience.

The GPS also includes Google Maps and Google Maps Picture. The Compass mode will link you to the Google Maps and pictures so you can navigate on the precise way without any “turn” problems.

Like “we know who” this phone can’t do video recording. We think this is a problem that quite soon will be resolved with outside applications.

Overall this phone gives you the most important thing - a touchscreen phone  (not that impressive) with a QWERTY keyboard and Google Android OS (the main attraction).
